INTRODUCTION Assystem are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the growing Offshore & Renewables Department within its Sunderland office. Experience in the offshore industry and familiarity with offshore codes are requirements.

The Offshore & Renewables Department is rapidly expanding and always looking for good Engineers. While this particular position is focussed on Senior Mechanical Engineer level a related role could be offered for good engineers at any level or of a Stress / Structural bias. The consultancy work out-sourced to Assystem tends to be relatively fast paced, varied and of a complexity that clients are unable to perform within their own organisations. Project values range from several thousands to multi-millions of pounds. Projects may focus on specific elements of the engineering process in which the expertise of Assystem adds value, such as: conceptual studies, detailed analysis, detailed design, production of fabrication drawings or assembly and test. Other projects can involve the full concept to supply path, or multiple elements of it. The work and extent of supply on each project is unique.
This is an opportunity to join a Sunderland-based team of approximately 55 Engineers working on bespoke design solutions at the forefront of the offshore and renewables industries. You will be expected to pass on expertise to more junior members of the team and to use the experience of those around you to constantly develop your own skill sets. There may also be exposure to the nuclear industry when opportunities to work with the nuclear project teams present themselves.
You will be given the opportunity to take leading technical roles on a variety of projects. You will be expected to take full ownership of the technical aspects and be able to effectively communicate these to the client.
The company business plan sets the Offshore & Renewables Department to at least double in size within the next two years, and continue to expand beyond that. Assuming a successful initial period and a suitable candidate this position is likely to grow to include the line-management of a team of Engineers within the Department.
The position is ideally suited to a high calibre, innovative, Senior Mechanical Engineer with offshore project experience. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate an appetite for challenge and be adaptable to the needs of the business and its customers in order to contribute to successful growth. In return we offer a working environment that encourages career and personal development and a competitive reward package.
